Excerpt: We administered an online survey over a 3-week period from May 10 through May 31, 2002, to Department of the Treasury (Treasury) employees, except the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), working in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The objective of this survey was to collect information on employee perceptions of safety, physical security, evacuation procedures, and continuity of operation planning (COOP), as well as to gain insight into employees? sense of personal safety while working in Treasury buildings.
