Excerpts: The Office of lnspector General conducted a performance audit to evaluate the adequacy, efficiency, and effectiveness of the internal controls over the acquisition of motor vehicles under leasing and full maintenance agreements. The audit identified several opportunities to improve controls over leased vehicles within GPO and to reduce overall costs of transportation. These three recommendations, when implemented, will improve and strengthen controls over motor vehicle acquisition and help improve the utilization of leased vehicles. Mr. Joseph Verch and Mr. Rodney Dahl, Supervisory Auditors, and Mr. Michael Ober, Auditor-In-Charge, conducted this audit. Several other staff auditors who are no longer at GPO contributed to this effort.
