Excerpt: The Industrial Hygiene and Safety program, which offers both Masters and Ph.D. level training, seeks applicants with an academic research focus on topics related to exposure assessment, with emphasis in chemical sampling, analysis, and instrumentation or aerosol sampling. Appropriate research areas would include the development of novel sampling methods, analysis of samples in complex matrices, development and improvement of analytical instrumentation, and development of real-time sensors. Research and teaching interests in chemical or aerosol exposure assessment, exposure control measures, chemical protective clothing or personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection also would be appropriate.
